Help & Reporting Issues

Connection help

  • Connection refused: Check the hostname and port, and confirm that the server’s SSH service is running. SSH commonly uses port 22, but your administrator may choose another.
  • Connection timed out: Check that your phone can reach the server’s network. A private home-network address usually requires the same network or a VPN when you’re away. Check the server’s firewall too.
  • Authentication failed: Confirm the username and password. For key login, check that the selected key’s public key is authorized for that server account.
  • Host key changed: Verify the new fingerprint with your server administrator before accepting it.
  • Disconnected after changing networks: Reopen an SSH connection, or set up Mosh for an interactive terminal that can recover across network changes.

For keyboard help, keep special keys visible. For first-time setup, follow Add an SSH host.
