Connect to a Raspberry Pi
Use ConnectBot to open a terminal on your Raspberry Pi from Android. You’ll need a Pi running Raspberry Pi OS, an account on it, and a phone that can reach its network.
Prepare your Pi
- Enable SSH in Raspberry Pi Imager when preparing the SD card, or enable it on an existing installation using
sudo raspi-configunder Interface Options → SSH. - Find the Pi’s hostname or IP address. If you have a terminal on the Pi,
hostname -Ishows its addresses. - Use the username and password you created during setup, or an SSH key authorized for that account.
See the official Raspberry Pi remote-access documentation for SSH setup and finding your Pi on the network.
Connect from Android
- Get ConnectBot on Google Play .
- Put your phone on the same network as your Pi for the first connection.
- Add an SSH host using your Pi’s address, your username, and its SSH port (usually
22). - Save the host, tap it in the Host List, verify its host-key fingerprint, and sign in.
Try hostname to confirm which machine you’re using, then uptime to see how long it has been running. Use exit when you’re done.
Next steps
Keep special keys visible for Ctrl, Tab, Esc, and arrows. To connect away from home, use a VPN or another network route to your Pi; its private address will not be reachable directly over mobile data. If you cannot connect, check connection help.
